It wouldn’t be the 4th of July without fireworks, and no one does fireworks like Macy’s and New York City!
This year the 43rd Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show takes place over the Brooklyn Bridge! Macy’s says it’ll be the biggest ever, with three times more pyrotechnics across the entire bridge and four barges along Pier 17 in the Seaport District.
Here are a few of the best locations to watch those Independence Day sparks fly!
Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks at the Brooklyn Bridge
The Macy’s 4th of July fireworks show has been lighting up the NYC skyline since 1958! This year the show returns to the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time since 2014, illuminating the sky like you’ve never seen it before! The fireworks will launch from the Brooklyn Bridge and four barges in the East River. And if you like movies then you’re in for a treat because American Cinema is the theme of this year’s fireworks extravaganza!
Some of the best locations to watch these fireworks from are:
- The Promenade in Brooklyn Heights.
- The FDR Drive in Lower Manhattan (which will be closed off to cars for the fireworks).
- Anywhere along the Brooklyn waterfront in Red Hook, Sunset Park or even Bay Ridge.
On a boat in the East River.
*Bonus Tip: Be sure to tune into 1010 Wins AM radio or on the Radio.com app to hear the musical score that’s synchronized with the fireworks show as you’re watching them!

Liberty State Park Freedom and Fireworks Festival in New Jersey
Celebrate the Fourth of July in Jersey City at Liberty State Park at the Jersey City Freedom & Fireworks Festival. Not only is this the most patriotic setting to celebrate Independence Day with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as the backdrop, but it’s also known as New Jersey’s premier fireworks show. The event will benefit Folds of Honor, a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen soldiers. There will be games and entertainment during the day and the fireworks take place at 10pm!
