Have you seen the cherry blossoms in Brooklyn?
They’re definitely one of the borough’s claims to fame and another reason why Brooklyn is the most gorgeous place in the world.
You can experience Springtime cherry-blossom fever throughout Brooklyn parks and neighborhoods, but as most Brooklynites know cherry blossom season is on full display at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, one of the largest collections of cherry blossoms in the world.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden Cherry Blossoms
Cherry blossom season lasts only a short time, from April – May, and each variety of flower lasts only 7-10 days. The Sakura (cherry blossom) symbolizes spring and mortality in Japanese culture. So when they bloom, the breathtaking cherry blossom is celebrated all over the world.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has one of the most famous Cherry Blossom Festivals in the world. Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival), is a weekend festival showcasing both traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. Cherry Walk is the focal point for the festival. The area was first planted in 1921 and has been blooming ever since.
Check out the variety of cherry blossoms in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. They even come in white!
However, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden isn’t the only place to find cherry blossoms in Brooklyn. You can also find them throughout Prospect Park, Crown Heights and other areas of Brooklyn like this photo taken in Park Slope.
