Brooklyn Christmas: Memories from the Original Christmas Lights Tour of Dyker Heights
Can you believe it’s been twelve years since we started showing you around Dyker Heights on our Christmas Lights Tour?
Rockefeller Center? FUHGETTABOUDIT!
Nobody does Christmas like Brooklyn! The homeowners go out of their way to outdo themselves every year to make sure your holiday is full of cheer.
Not only do we take you to Dyker Heights on the tour, but you’ll even get to see the fabulous homes in the Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst sections of Brooklyn as well. These neighborhoods are world famous for their displays, but not always easy to get to. We conveniently pick you up in Manhattan and shuttle you to the world’s most extravagant lights displays anywhere in the country. You’ll see homes from both on and off the bus and our guides are all from Brooklyn, which means that they know the homeowners personally. So sometimes you’ll even get a chance to chat with them! Sure, locals could go on their own but would miss out on the Christmas trivia and cheer provided on our bus and get to see homes that they might not see on their own. Plus parking is always nightmare!
Throughout the entire tour there’s festive Christmas music playing on the bus, and on the ride back to Manhattan after the tour there are vintage TV Christmas specials played on the screens of the bus such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Sonny & Cher and more!
And everyone always receives a candy cane at the start of the tour and a commemorative Christmas Lights Tour magnet with our slogan, “Rockefeller Center? FUHGETTABOUDIT!” on them!
A Slice of Brooklyn’s Christmas Lights Tour tour has been featured on the Today Show, Good Morning America, The Chew, ABC’s Nightline, Good Morning Britain in the UK, RAI’s Italia Chiama Italia as well as in the pages of Time Out New York and the New York Times!
Here’s some of what the past eleven years have looked like!
