If there’s one thing we love in Brooklyn it’s our food. From our pizza and desserts to everything in between, Brooklyn does food like no other city. Every summer, people flock here to see the sights – and eat! Since everyone knows you get to eat whatever you want when you’re on vacation, here are our favorite places to eat when you’re in Brooklyn during summer.
Drink frozen hot chocolate from Jacques Torres Chocolate.
Jacques Torres is also known as Mr. Chocolate, so you know anything chocolate from Jacques Torres is going to be amazing! You have to have a frozen hot chocolate if you visit his store in DUMBO. What better way to cool off on a hot summer’s day?
Eat the Sicilian square from L&B Spumoni Gardens.
Who are we kidding? Pizza is good any time of the year. But it’s not a trip to Brooklyn without a trip to L&B. Sit outside under the umbrellas and enjoy this classic Brooklyn pizza, which is one of the best in the world.
While you’re at L&B be sure to try the spumoni.
If you’re looking for a cool, refreshing summer treat look no further than the spumoni at L&B. Never heard of it? Spumoni is three flavors of ice cream put together: pistachio, chocolate and almond or vanilla. Plus, when you go to L&B you can get the pizza AND the dessert. Not a bad deal if you ask us!
Junior’s on Flatbush Avenue is famous for it’s cheesecake.
Don’t take it from us. Chef Rocco Dispirito said, “I literally never tasted a cheesecake quite as good as Junior’s”. Their cheesecake is the most amazing, New York-style cheesecake you’ll ever try. It’s so good that it’s one of the stops on our Brooklyn Neighborhood Tour.
Nothing says summer more than hot dogs.
And nothing says summer in Brooklyn more than hot dogs at Nathan’s in Coney Island! Nathan’s started as a nickel hot dog stand in 1916 and is still going strong today. With a lifespan like that, you know they make the perfect hot dog for your summer trip.
Homemade ice cream at the Chocolate Room.
If you love ice cream then you have to visit the Chocolate Room. They make all their ice creams by hand, in small batches, using natural ingredients. And the flavors are incredible: Madagascar Vanilla, Belgian Chocolate, Fresh Mint Chip, Sumatran Coffee, Fresh Strawberry, Fresh Banana, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Sorbet, Passion Fruit Sorbet, Raspberry Sorbet, Coconut Sorbet. You’ll have a tough time choosing a favorite. There’s a reason the Chocolate Room in Cobble Hill is the second stop on our Brooklyn Chocolate Tour.
Stop at Randazzo’s Clam Bar along the water in Sheepshead Bay.
Strolling down Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay is one of the treats of summer. But no experience is complete without food, right? That’s where Randazzo’s Clam Bar comes in. Helen Randazzo opened Randazzo’s in 1916 and it’s still serving some of the best seafood in Brooklyn and right on the water. Just walk up to the window and order a dozen clams on the half shell. You can’t lose!
Come to Brooklyn and don’t eat gelato?
FUHGETTABOUDIT!
The gelato at Villabate Alba, in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, is as Italian as it gets. The Alaimo family has been making the best cannoli and pastries at Villabate since 1979. But their Italian gelato is truly the BEST gelato you’ll experience outside of Italy. They even keep that authentic Italian flavor using only Elenka flavors imported straight from Italy.
It’s not a visit to Brooklyn without Grimaldi’s pizza.
Imagine this: you walk across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge then feed your aching feet and hungry belly with world famous Grimaldi’s under the Brooklyn Bridge. The line is pretty long, but worth the wait. Or skip the lines all together and come with us on our Brooklyn Pizza Tour.
And now you have the lowdown on where to eat in Brooklyn during summer! Which place are you going to hit up first? Don’t want to go alone? No problem. Join our Pizza, Chocolate or Neighborhood Tours to taste some of the best food Brooklyn has to offer!
