A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour invites pizza fans to climb aboard the city’s only guided bus tour of Brooklyn’s best pizzeria - and to thoroughly enjoy the ride. The tour was started by Tony Muia, a proud native Brooklynite who for 30 years has been eating the phenomenal pizza that his tour now highlights (he’s also a licensed New York City tour guide).
Tony unofficially started the tour after hearing complaints of ‘not being able to find good pizza in Manhattan’. He took a group of 10 hungry friends to the two best pizzerias in Brooklyn, while also highlighting the landmarks, movie locations and points of interest that have made Brooklyn world-known. Word, and waistbands, spread, and by the time Tony planned his next pizza tour, over 20 people wanted to join. Thus, A Slice… was born.
The 4 1/2 hour foodie romp begins near Union Square in Manhattan, heading off to Dumbo’s Grimaldi’s and L&B Spumoni Gardens, specializing in brick oven Neapolitan and authentic Sicilian, respectively. Along the way they stop at Coney Island’s amusement park and summer-lovin’ boardwalk, take a shady turn through tree-lined-and-brownstone neighborhoods, have a gander at Keyspan Park (site of baseball’s return to Brooklyn and home of the Cyclones), ooh-and-ah at the spectacular Brooklyn and Verrazano- Narrows Bridges, get fired…up at Trump Village (where Donald’s dad Fred first made his fortune), plus repeat everyone’s favorite lines at locations from Saturday Night Fever, The French Connection, Scent of a Woman and Annie Hall.
